Canadian Rockies

Dates: June 4-12, 2016

Days 1-3

Explore Vancouver. My cousin from Australia temporarily moved to Vancouver so I went to visit her since it's so close to me! Her and her husband's apartment was cute and close to downtown. There were a lot of trees everywhere! So pretty.

Hike to Quarry Rock

We drove to Deep Cove and hiked the Baden Powell Trail to Quarry Rock.

The hike was pretty easy and the view from the top was spectacular.

Day 4

Start of Roadtrip

Lunchstop: Gray Monk Winery

After a couple hours of driving, we stopped to have a fabulous lunch at Gray Monk Winery. The patio overlooked the winery and the huge Okanagan Lake. It was incredible. The wine was also delicious!

Sparkling Hill Resort

From the winery, drove 30 mins to our first overnight spot, Sparkling Hill. Beautiful resort full of Swarovski crystals everywhere. Best thing about this place were the spa amenities! 7 saunas! Indoor salt water pool, outdoor infinity pool, hot tub, etc.

Days 5-6

The Fairmont Lake Louise

Arrived at the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. This was the main attraction of our road trip. Our room had an amazing view of the lake.

Sunrise Canoeing

Signed up for the sunrise & breakfast canoeing. Met at the docks 5:30am, they handed us our pre-selected breakfast in a bag, which we brought onto our canoe and had breakfast as the sun rose. Was pretty amazing.

Lake Louise Ski Resort

We drove to Lake Louise Ski Resort, and took the lifts to the top of the mountain.

From the top amidst the clouds, we could see tiny Lake Louise! Crazy to imagine just few hours earlier, we were there on a canoe.

At the Ski Resort, we ate at Whitehorn Bistro. They had a vegan risotto that was so good!

Dinner at Lago Italian Kitchen

The chef created a vegan pasta dish for me and it was delicious!

Moraine Lake

Took a short drive to Moraine Lake. Just as beautiful as Lake Louise, with 10 Peaks surrounding it.

Peyto Lake

And then another drive to Peyto Lake. Short but steep hike to the viewpoint.

The lake was quite magical. Glacial rock "flour" flow into the lake, and the light hits the particles a certain way, which makes it look this icy blue. So pretty!

Saw a bear off the highway while driving by!!

Day 7

Glacier View Inn

Drove a couple hours to Glacier View Inn. Was a lot colder here, and you could see the glacier!

Glacier Tour

Did the Glacier Tour. Got on this crazy Ice Explorer, which costs millions of dollars and theres only like 20 of them in the world.

Glacier Skywalk

After the Glacier Tour, they took us to the Skywalk which was a lot scarier than I thought it'd be and took a couple minutes for me to actually walk on the glass bridge.

Athabasca Falls

Tangle Falls

Just off the side of the highway in Jasper, Alberta

For our last day,  we stopped at Banff for lunch and stayed a night at Sheraton Suites Eau Claire Calgary.
